LMD are proud to announce our latest publication ‘Mummy Goes To Hospital’ written by the inspiring Lynsey Gregory and her son Theo. This is a children’s story book that aims to support families with younger children to help them make sense of the change in their worlds.
In January 2019 Lynsey was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). Her world got turned upside down and she along with her family began a scary journey that has taught them the value of each and every day and everyone who is part of it.
They have had a very different 2 years than they could have ever expected but have learned to embrace the change in life. In doing so they have used their journey, with the much needed help of family and friends, to support and help others that may be going through a similar thing.
With your help Lynsey hopes to reach families through sending packs of the books to charities / hospital / health centres / schools. And raise more awareness through selling individual books and asking for money donations that will also be given to charity.

A little information about one the special Charities Mummys Star. A very important Charity that brings love , hope and a support network through a very trying time for families.
Tillie was 6months old when Lynsey was diagnosed, she is her STAR baby.
Lynsey has been in touch with Mummys Star since the day of her diagnosis and feels very blessed to say they are still very much part of her journey.
The news of a pregnancy or a recent birth is an exciting time for all prospective and existing parents. It can, however, be cruelly interrupted by the news of a cancer diagnosis and the worry that this brings to both you and your wider family.
Mummy’s Star is the only charity in the UK and Ireland dedicated to women and their families diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy or within 12 months of giving birth.
Our mission is to provide cancer support to every family facing this traumatic situation.
Lynsey’s second chosen charity - The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. Having spent over 2 years under the care of The Christie Hospital. When Lynsey looks back through 2019 she spent time in hospital every single month - this could have been anytime from 3 days - 6 weeks and can honestly say she couldn’t have been in a better place. It is easy to understand why the Trust is “outstanding” and so well known by many people. All the staff are amazing, no matter what role they play, they soon all become a very special part of your journey.
A special memory during the early days of staying on the Haematology ward, was “Mother’s Day”. One of the nurses stayed on her shift longer and woke Lynsey with a BIG hug and kissed me on both cheeks to wish me a special day from each of her children. They’ve wiped away many of tears, squeezed her tight to let her know she’s not on my own, literally picked her up off the floor and given the strength and push to keep going and get home to her family.
Lynsey continues to attend the hospital regularly being cared for in the blood and transplant clinic. Again the staff are equally amazing and make you feel as comfortable and supported as possible. They take an interest in you as a person and not just a patient.
The resources they have are great tools for all patients and the charity work hard to ensure the best additions are available.
The Christie charity raises money for a wide range of projects and initiatives within the hospital.
Donations from our supporters mean we can provide enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. This includes continuous funding for a number of services throughout the hospital including the cancer information centre, wig fitting service, art room and complementary therapy.
We are also raising money for major developments including the new Christie centre in Macclesfield and the radiology department development.
Lynsey would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for all the continued support! It’s been amazing and she couldn’t be more grateful!
Her current money count is an amazing £4000.
She has sent packs to hospitals as far as London, hospices and health visiting teams across the water, big and small charities around the country and local surgeries and schools !
Thank you for helping her do this.
